Sheridan Workstudy Assistance Program

OVERVIEW

The Financial Aid and Awards Office administers the Sheridan Work Study Assistance Program. The Program provides students with meaningful on-campus paid employment opportunities while they are registered in at least a 60% course load at Sheridan (40% for students with a documented permanent disability).

Each Program has its own unique set of eligibility criteria and subsidy arrangements. Financial Aid and Awards is responsible for approving employer’s job descriptions and student’s applications. Each Program is funded on a cost-sharing basis. The Program consists of the following:

  • The Ontario Work Study Plan (OWSP) is a part-time employment program funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Students are eligible to earn up to $1,000 per academic term. The work study program is a cost-sharing program between the Ministry, who is responsible for paying 75% of the student’s wage, and the employer, who is responsible for the remaining 25%.
  • The Sheridan Parallel Work Study Program is a part-time employment program funded by the revenue generated from Sheridan students’ tuition fees. Students are eligible to earn up to $1,000 per academic term. The Sheridan Parallel Work Study Program is a cost-sharing program between Sheridan, who is responsible for paying 75% of the student’s wage, and the employer, who is responsible for the remaining 25%.
  • The Sheridan Between Academic Terms Program is a full-time employment program funded by the revenue generated from Sheridan students’ tuition fees at a rate of 75% while the employer is responsible for the remaining 25%.

The Financial Aid and Awards Office encourages both students and employers to take advantage of the Sheridan Work Study Assistance Program. We are particularly interested in recruiting new employers and students. If you have accessed funding from the above-mentioned Programs in the past, we hope to count on your participation in the future. Students may wish to visit the Career Centre’s website or tips on résumés and interview preparation.
