Letter from the Sheridan Board of Governors to Sheridan Community Members
On behalf of the Board of Governors and as Chair of the Presidential Search Committee, I am extremely pleased to let you know that the search has begun to identify the sixth President of the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. The identification and attraction of an outstanding President is one of the most important endeavours of a Board, and we do not undertake this process lightly. We are committed to a successful search process and, with your support, we are confident of reaching our desired outcome. We have engaged The Caldwell Partners International as consultants for the search process. The Caldwell Partners International is a leading national executive search firm with a higher education search practice, and particularly deep experience at the Presidential level. To ensure that the Search Committee reflects and represents Sheridan's constituents, it has been determined that a Committee with the following composition will oversee the search:
- Several members of the Board of Governors, including the Board Chair
- A past Board Chair
- Two faculty representatives (one from Trafalgar Road / STC, and one from Davis)
- One representative from administration
- One representative from support staff
- Two student representatives (one from Trafalgar Road / STC, and one from Davis).
We are working with representatives of Sheridan's faculty, administration, support staff and student constituent groups to secure their recommendations for these key roles on the Search Committee. Members of the Search Committee will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement, and to devote considerable time and effort to this process over the next few months. The Search Committee will hold its first meeting on December 17th. The Search Committee will ensure that the Sheridan community has meaningful opportunities for input to the search process about the skills and attributes of our next President and about the search process itself. We will also be looking to you for suggestions and recommendations.
The Search Committee will make a commitment to keep the Sheridan community informed about the progress of the search. In particular, our web site will keep interested readers updated on the activity and progress of the Search Committee, within the limits of confidentiality necessary to a successful search. The Search Committee will be meeting twice a month over a period of about six months; we will update the community after each Committee meeting. I want to thank you for your interest and ongoing support of this important process. This is an opportunity for each of us to help encourage and attract exceptional candidates to the position. Sheridan has an excellent reputation and a strong record of achievement. We all have a leadership role to play in maintaining our position of leadership. With your input and perspective the Search Committee will fulfill its role in selecting the best candidate for Sheridan's next President. Sincerely,
Susanna D'Arcy Chair Board of Governors
