When you graduate from the Sheridan Advertising Management program you will have completed a one-year, in-depth immersion in the planning, strategic development and execution of professional advertising. You’ll be confident of your abilities and ready to immediately contribute to a professional advertising team.
Through hands-on learning experiences with professors who are well experienced in the advertising industry, you’ll master critical thinking skills so you can analyze and solve complex marketing challenges. The scope of your advertising classes prepares you to work not only in a Canadian ad agency, PR firm or internal marketing group, but also internationally.
The Advertising Management Graduate Certificate program focuses on equipping you to:
- Understand target markets
- Analyze advertising challenges
- Develop a product's brand identity and determine how to communicate it
- Know how your advertising fits in the total communications plan
- Develop a complete media plan
- Meet corporate communications objectives
- Develop and defend media selection and placement
- Research consumers' buying behavior
- Using computer software designed specifically for the advertising industry
Advertising Industry Experience
You will have the opportunity to take part in an optional four-week unpaid work experience within the advertising industry. It’s the perfect way to add depth to your résumé while you also use your new skills.
The advertising certificate program is located at the Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville, Ontario.
Your Sheridan graduate certificate is your ticket to a career in advertising management.
When you complete your one-year program in Advertising Management, you’ll be ready to enter the advertising field in any of these organizations or departments:

Program Eligibility
- Postsecondary diploma or degree
and/or
- Demonstrated competence through related work and/or educational experience
Applicant Selection
Eligible applicants will be selected on the basis of previous academic achievement, and/or demonstrated experience.
In some cases, applicants may be requested to submit a résumé, which includes details of related work experience, and a cover letter, which summarizes their career goals and reasons for wanting to take this program.
Postsecondary transcripts, indicating courses completed to date, must be submitted to ontariocolleges.ca at the time of application.
Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for this program will be assessed and advised individually and may be considered for other, related programs.
Graduates of Sheridan’s diploma/advanced diploma program in Advertising are not considered eligible for this program due to duplication in course content.
