As a new university or college graduate, Sheridan’s Project Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate program gives you the foundation you need to successfully manage projects for employers in your discipline. That’s true whether your area of interest is the arts, community or social services, business or information technology. If you’re a seasoned professional, this program provides the opportunity to learn new skills and earn credentials necessary to advance your career faster.

The skills you learn in this Project Management program prepare you to initiate, plan, execute and control a project to ensure its success. In addition to your graduate certificate, when you complete the program you will be qualified to write your exam to become either a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) or Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute(PMI®).

The program gives you a comprehensive foundation in project management and organizational management that applies to organizations of all types and sizes. You will learn how to:
  • Identify clear project objectives
  • Build detailed project requirements
  • Develop and monitor performance measures
  • Manage communication
  • Arrange and control finances
  • Work well with diverse people and partners
  • Manage project constraints including scope, quality, cost and time
Under the direction of professors who are both outstanding educators and well-experienced in the project management field, you will learn through:

  • Capstone experience working with an actual government, business or non-profit organization on a real project
  • Mobile computing - using your laptop you will have 24/7 access to all coursework and notes


 

Cooperative Education


You can work for one paid work term at the end of the program’s eight-month academic portion and gain valuable real-world experience that is highly regarded by employers. This experience allows you to explore different career paths and apply classroom learning to actual business situations.

The Project Management Program is located at the Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville, Ontario.

Sheridan puts your career on the fast track. When you complete your Project Management Graduate Certificate Program, you will be ready to take a position in one of the following areas:
  • Arts: Film or theatre production management, arts administration, self-employed artist
  • Community services: Fundraiser, program coordinator, volunteer management
  • Business: Supply chain coordinator or entrepreneur starting your own business, event planner
  • Information technology: Hardware upgrade or software development project leader
  • Government: Public administration, recreation program coordinator, community initiatives leader

The role of a project manager is to deal with on-going challenges and changes to ensure the objectives of the project work are achieved. This can only be accomplished with a broad set of skills. This program teaches these skills.

Sheridan Project Management Graduate Certificate Program combines real world and case-based studies with hands-on assignments and instruction by expert, experienced faculty. This project management curriculum gives you the essential skills to succeed in your career in the arts, community service, not-for-profit, business, government and IT sectors. Highly interactive, you’ll learn how to initiate, plan and control projects for successful results.

APPLICANT SELECTION


Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of previous academic achievement, and/or demonstrated experience.

In some cases, applicants may be requested to submit a résumé, which includes details of related work experience, and a cover letter, which summarizes their career goals and reasons for wanting to take this program.

Postsecondary transcripts, indicating courses completed to date, must be submitted to ontariocolleges.ca at the time of application.
 
Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for this program will be assessed and advised individually and may be considered for other, related programs.
