About Us
The Accessible Learning Services Office facilitates equal access for eligible students with disabilities definition by coordinating reasonable academic accommodations and support services. Accommodation plans and services are tailored to correspond with the disability related needs of each student and are determined based on the documentation provided and program specific requirements. We continually strive to cultivate a college culture that is sensitive and responsive to the needs of students. Emphasis is placed on students' ability and independence to empower them to realize their academic potential and personal responsibilities.

Sheridan believes that all qualified students should have the opportunity to be successful in their college program. We support the student’s right and responsibilities to self advocate and encourage the building of independence.

Confidentiality and Information Release
The Accessible Learning Services Office in accordance with the law is committed to ensuring that all information regarding a student's particular disability will be maintained as strictly confidential. Any information that is collected is used for the benefit of the student.
Disclosure
In order to be eligible to receive any type of accommodation, a student must disclose to the Accessible Learning Services Office staff and provide appropriate and current documentation . All disclosed information will be kept confidential with the exceptions of: (a) a student is assessed as being a danger to self or others, (b) when the law requires the release of information. Even in these situations a student would be informed and only pertinent information will be communicated.
As well, sometimes Accessible Learning Services staff may consult with colleagues or a supervisor to improve their skills and to provide a student with the highest quality services possible. Occasionally Accessible Learning Services staff is approached by faculty and staff to discuss ways to handle particular information, this is typically done without identifying information to protect privacy.
Notes and records are maintained in our databases and accessed only by authorized staff members. The notes are available to other Accessible Learning Services staff and advisors/counselors in cases where you may subsequently see a different advisor/counselor to avoid the recounting of your circumstances. Accessible Learning Services will retain a copy of all information provided for a minimum of seven years after the student's last contact with Sheridan.
All information provided to the Accessible Learning Services Office is protected by the College's Privacy and Freedom of Information Policy.

New Tuition Fee Policy for Students with Permanent Disabilities
